Fazon has no account and no server of its own. What you log is stored on your iPhone, and a copy is kept in your own iCloud so it reaches your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
What syncs
Your food log, weights and measurements, goals, phases and check-ins sync through iCloud when you’re signed in with your Apple Account and iCloud is on for Fazon. Deleting syncs too: what you delete on one iPhone is deleted on the others.
In iCloud, what you log is end-to-end encrypted, so Apple can’t read it, and so are the details you enter about yourself, such as your sex and date of birth. Apple sees only technical details, such as when records change and how many there are. What you log is never sent to us.
What each iPhone keeps to itself
Some things belong to the iPhone rather than to your data, so you set them up on each one:
- access to Apple Health and notifications, which each iPhone asks you for;
- small preferences, such as the voice and the goal you last set for a Power Walk;
- the food database, which each iPhone downloads.
Checking sync
Sync, under Data in You → Settings, shows where your data is right now:
- Sync with iCloud is on. Your data syncs. It means sync is on, not that everything has already arrived.
- iCloud is off for Fazon, so your data is only on this iPhone.
- iCloud storage is full. Changes are saved on this iPhone and sync when there’s room.
- Sync status isn’t available yet. Fazon is still checking. Look again in a moment.
There’s no sync switch in Fazon. Sync follows iCloud: to turn it off, open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, and turn Fazon off.
A new iPhone, or installing Fazon again
- Sign in with the same Apple Account, with iCloud on for Fazon.
- Install Fazon and open it. If your data is in iCloud, Fazon says Welcome back and brings it in. You don’t fill anything in again.
- If it takes a while, tap Continue to start using Fazon. Anything still on its way appears when it arrives.
This needs your data to be in your iCloud already, and the same Apple Account. If the iPhone is offline the first time you open Fazon, or your data doesn’t arrive, you can set Fazon up as new. If your earlier data arrives later, it’s brought in then.
A phase you’ve started comes back the same way. Restore purchases is only for a phase you paid for on this iPhone that didn’t start, as the article on buying a phase explains.
Backups
Your data is also in your iPhone’s own backup, in iCloud or on your computer, depending on your Apple settings. Apple holds backups under Apple’s terms, and they keep your data until you remove them.
Sync isn’t a backup. What you delete on one iPhone is deleted on all of them.
Deleting
Deleting the Fazon app removes your data from that iPhone, but not from iCloud or your backups, so it comes back if you install Fazon again. To delete it everywhere, use Delete all data. What it removes, and what it can’t, is in the article on exporting and deleting your data.
