Exporting and deleting your data

Your data is yours to take with you or remove. Both exports are in You → Settings, under Data.

Export your food log

Export food log makes a file of what you ate, for a period you choose.

  • CSV is for spreadsheets. PDF is for reading or sharing.
  • Choose Headline values only or All nutrients.
  • Tap Export and send the file wherever you like from the share sheet.

Export everything

Export all data makes one JSON file with everything Fazon has saved, for the period you choose. It’s made for another program to read, not as a report. It includes things you’ve deleted, marked as deleted.

Sex and date of birth are left out unless you turn on Include sex and date of birth. The choice applies to one file at a time.

Once you’ve sent a file somewhere, the app or service you sent it to looks after it.

Deleting

You can delete a single food, meal or measurement where it appears. You have a few seconds to tap Undo.

After that it’s gone from Fazon on all your iPhones. To make that happen, Fazon keeps it marked as deleted: on this iPhone, in iCloud and in Export all data. You don’t see it in the app. It’s removed for good only by Delete all data.

Delete everything

Delete all data, under Data in You → Settings, just below Sync, deletes everything Fazon has saved on this iPhone and in iCloud. It can’t be undone. To finish, close Fazon and open it again. Afterwards Fazon starts as if you’d just installed it.

Removing the Fazon app isn’t the same. It removes the app from this iPhone, but your data stays in iCloud and comes back if you install Fazon again.

Before you delete

  • If you want a copy, use Export all data first.
  • If an Active Phase is running, or you’ve bought one you haven’t started, it’s deleted too. A phase comes back on a new iPhone through iCloud, not through Restore purchases, so once it’s deleted there’s nothing to restore.

When Fazon can’t delete

Fazon deletes your data in iCloud first, and only then on this iPhone. When it can’t do that right now, Delete all data is dimmed and the line next to it says why: iCloud is off for Fazon or you’re signed out, this iPhone is signed in to a different iCloud account, or it’s offline. Turn iCloud back on for Fazon, sign in to the right account or connect to the internet, and the button works again, without leaving the screen.

If iCloud is off for Fazon and this iPhone has never synced with it, Fazon deletes the data on this iPhone only and says so. That works without a connection.

Sometimes Fazon finds out only after you confirm, for example on a network where you need to sign in before you get online, or when iCloud doesn’t accept the delete after you open Fazon again. If that happens before deleting has started, nothing is deleted and Fazon tells you why.

Once Fazon has started deleting in iCloud, it finishes. If the connection drops or the app closes partway, Fazon shows that deleting isn’t finished and completes it when you’re back online. You can’t use the app until then.

Your other devices

Delete all data deletes your data in iCloud, but a device that still has Fazon keeps its own copy and puts it back in iCloud. From there it comes back to this iPhone too.

To delete your data from iCloud for all of them, remove Fazon from your other devices first, then use Delete all data on the last one. Removing the app doesn’t delete anything in iCloud on its own: Delete all data does that.

What stays

  • Apple Health. What Fazon saved in Health stays there. After Delete all data, Fazon no longer knows which samples it wrote, so if you want them gone, remove them in the Health app.
  • The food database. Fazon keeps the food database it downloaded, so you don’t download it again. It holds none of your data.
  • Backups. Backups of your iPhone keep your data until you remove them.
  • Files you exported. A file you’ve sent somewhere stays there.
